About Gh Pro Fugu

Gh Pro Fugu (formerly Ghana Fugu) is the international home of the authentic hand-woven fugu smock — known across Northern Ghana as the batakari. We serve customers worldwide with USD pricing and flat $15 international shipping, weaving every smock with master weavers in Tamale, Yendi, and Bolgatanga and shipping from Ghana.

We have one product and one standard: the authentic, hand-woven fugu smock. The fugu has dressed chiefs, warriors, and storytellers for more than 500 years. We didn’t invent it — our work is to protect how it’s made, and carry it to the world.

Every Gh Pro Fugu smock begins on a narrow-strip loom in Tamale, Yendi, or Bolgatanga. We partner directly with more than 200 master weavers across these three weaving towns — no middlemen, no factory floors. Raw cotton is hand-spun into thread, woven into narrow strips, then hand-stitched into a finished smock over 5 to 14 days. No two pieces come out identical. That is the point.

The weavers who keep this Dagbon craft alive are the reason Gh Pro Fugu exists. We partner with them directly and fairly, and every smock ships with an artisan tag naming the person who wove it. When you wear a Gh Pro Fugu piece, you know whose hands made it.

Authenticity here is not a slogan — it’s paperwork. Each smock is individually numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Look closely at the seams: the visible hand-stitching where narrow strips join is the signature of a genuine hand-woven fugu, and it can’t be faked by a machine. (New to the garment? Our size guide explains the traditional one-size cut.)

Gh Pro Fugu is based in Accra and ships worldwide — our smocks are already worn worldwide, from festival grounds in Ghana to city streets far from home. The brand exists to answer one question people kept asking: where can I buy a real batakari, made the real way? You’re in the right place.

Common questions

Who is Gh Pro Fugu?

Gh Pro Fugu is an international clothing brand serving customers worldwide with authentic hand-woven fugu smocks, also called batakari. Every smock is woven by more than 200 master weavers in Tamale, Yendi, and Bolgatanga in Northern Ghana, priced in USD and shipped from Ghana through ghfugu.com.

Why did Ghana Fugu become Gh Pro Fugu?

In July 2026 we renamed the brand from Ghana Fugu to Gh Pro Fugu. Nothing about the smocks changed — the same master weavers, the same looms in Tamale, Yendi, and Bolgatanga, and the same store at ghfugu.com. Only the name is new.
